Assistant Head of Major Projects / Head of Major Project - Design and Consulting

The focus of the business is design of the substations, grid connection for generators, due diligence, and technical advisory across a range of projects in the transmission and distribution sector.
The Head of Major Projects, is a senior role and accountable for successful execution of projects within our design and consulting business. This role is suitable for an ambitious individual (ideally with background in the energy consultancy sector) who can not only deliver projects successfully, but also to build relationship with the stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
  • Act as project sponsor for major projects in design, structure supply, and consultancy within Kelvin Power and have overall accountability for winning the work, resource mobilisation, delivery, and revenue recovery
  • To liaise with key clients, and develop a deep relationship to increase the engagement between companies and grow the business
  • Having a passion to grow the business and to generate sales, oversee and direct the management of dedicated client accounts and major projects
  • To lead the bids and proposals for major opportunities, decide on the fee, margin, and balance risk and reward
  • To coach and manage staff during the project delivery
  • Leads and directs the work of other members of the project team.
  • Sole responsibility of project delivery such as key liaison contact with the client, Participate actively in design and have final sign-off, Management and over-seeing of project team, Liaison with clients to deliver outputs, to present data and solve client follow-up data requests
  • To provide technical expertise to other Vinci-Energies’ groups (i.e. Omexom) in both securing pipeline for the group and ensuring the success for the whole group
  • To embrace innovation and implement innovative solutions and technologies in civil and structural engineering domain and substation design
  • To hold the responsibility of project management of a portfolio of projects within Kelvin Power and to maximise the revenue, and margin (E-result)
Skills and Experience:
  • Chartered Engineer with CEng MIStructE qualification (preferred) 
  • Project management experience in the design, consulting sector
  • Experience of substation design/delivery (preferred)
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as British Standards, Eurocodes, National Grid
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 
Package:
  • Salary Range: (Assistant Head of Major Projects) £45,000-£55000
  • Head of Major Projects £50000-£70000 + Car Allowance
  • Pension
  • 25 Days annual Leave + 1 day off for your birthday
